Why Is The Water In Santa Cruz So Cold?
Posted on December 31st, 2009 by Dot
Why here in Santa Cruz, CA is the ocean s incredibly cold whereas the Atlantic is warm? Even in the summer the water here is freezing. If we are at the same latitude then why is the water so cold here, there must be a scientific explanation for this.

Stumble it!

because its called the california current which brings cold water down from the arctic..up by alaska..
On the West Coast, the current flows South from Alaska.
On the East Coast it flows North from the Caribbean.
That’s the basic story. Cold water from the North on the West Coast, warm water from the South on the East Coast.
Get a wet suit. That’s what the surfer dudes do.
Have fun!
