i am a freshman here and i could right the longest review but il jut keep it short and tell u that u will never regret coming to cal poly slo it is absolutely amazing, The college atmosphere location and campus are unlike any other campus.

I hate you…. What was your GPA and SATs? UCs rejected an absurd amount of people this year. I just got rejected from SB. As for enviro sciences I would normally say SD because they seem to be a very science savvy school but it does not look like a fun school to go to. I would recommend SB.

San Diego!!!!! environmental science might be good at Santa Cruz though. still, San Diego is awesome.
Honestly, Cal Poly SLO is for the weak at heart. if injustices really get on your nerves, don’t go there. It is a very different environment, I really didn’t like it.

UCSD by far has the best science department within the UC system. Although, it is a rough social scene, so I would take a visit to all of the schools aforementioned and make an informed decision. You must visit each school!

i got into all those schools as well except i have a 4.5 gpa, 3.97 uw and about 450 more sat points than u. im going to cal poly most likely, i hear ucsd is horrible and the students hate it and its extremeley cutthroat competitve, if i dont get into berkeley im going to slo, best college experience i think.

Good job those are all great schools. Being that I am an all science and math kind of guy I’ve been doing a fair amount of research on this same issue. Although I don’t know much about SC and Cal Poly I’ve looked up plenty on USCD and UCSB. They are both great in the environmental sciences but UCSD has a better program for long term studies in these particulars. And as to the social life, my cousin goes to UCSD and loves it. She says that it can be a couped up study hall if that’s how you make it. If you are outgoing or at least make an effort towards it then you’ll be fine. Best of luck on your decision!!

Good job getting into those schools, I had a higher GPA and SAT scores, and I still got rejected from UCSB, but got into UCSC and am also going to major in environmental science. I live in San Luis Obispo, so I didn’t apply to Poly because its just too close to home. It is a really nice campus though, and the chicks are amazingly hot. The entire UC system is known for their science programs, so you really can’t go wrong with any of them. I’ve heard UCSD has a really boring social scene, UCSB is a crazy party school, and UCSC is sort of a hippy weed party school. Out of those you listed I would have chosen UCSB, but if I were you I’d pick the school that best fits your personality.

First of all, congrats on your acceptances! Now with that being said, I will rank them and my reasoning behind that.
1. UCSD – Best reputation out of the 4, good science programs, BUT it is nicknamed “university of california SOCIALLY DEAD” (people tend to be too busy studying and working hard to have a social life)
2. UCSB – I think SB is pretty well-rounded. It might have that “party school reputation” but it’s not as bad as people say it is. I believe it’s a good balance between academic life & social life.
3. UCSC – Don’t really know much at SC, but I hear it has good science programs.
4. Cal Poly SLO – Only attend SLO if you plan to do engineering, business, etc. Also, if you choose to switch majors it’s more difficult since all their majors are impacted.
