Valley networks on Mars formed during long period of episodic flooding (EurekAlert!)
A new study suggests that ancient features on the surface of Mars called valley networks were carved by recurrent floods during a long period when the martian climate may have been much like that of some arid or semiarid regions on Earth. An alternative theory that the valleys were carved by catastrophic flooding over a relatively short time is not supported by the new results.

The Tubes – A Matter of Pride 08/29/08
The Tubes – A Matter of Pride @ The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz, Ca 08/29/08 *LYRICS PROVIDED BELOW* Our next concert again took us on a trip to Santa Cruz, California. Every summer the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk features free Friday-night bands on the beach. This concert brought us the music of The Tubes. This was originally a San Francisco based band that was known for very lewd and pornographic stage shows in the late 1970s and early 1980s. So I was very curious to see the modern version, all cleaned-up and family friendly for the boardwalk. I must say lead singer Fee Waybill is really a great entertainer. What a character. He did interject a tiny bit of crudity here and there, as everyone present expected. However, Fee did a great job of keeping it mild enough to be acceptable. The other thing that the band was known for was satirizing social/political issues, usually around media and consumerism. There was no shortage of that here. The band was jokingly discussing absurdities about the US presidential election and about McCain’s VP pick being “hot.” This was very funny banter that was reflective of present-day themes. Fee made it clear (in a light jovial manner) that he was endorsing Barack Obama. And is looking for him to do great things for the poor and disenfranchised. My wife and I both really enjoyed this show a great deal. Go see The Tubes they are great. I am now very curious to see one of their adult themed shows. I am sure it is very fun and exciting. Also go visit the city of Santa Cruz. It is such a fun place with so much to do. FamilyManDude A Matter Of Pride: Hey baby You don’t care You don’t share You won’t make believe You won’t tell me things I got to know I got to know I want it now Don’t you understand When you love somebody You must look into her eyes When you love somebody You have pride You say you love me but you know it’s a lie I have to trust you it’s a matter of pride Hey baby, I just can’t take it You make me mad Tell me how you really feel I want to know bad When you love somebody You must look into her eyes When you love somebody You have pride Call me baby, call me on the telephone Tell me baby, tell me that you want me home Give me a minute, I’ll be there right away Tell me baby, are those the right words to say I got to find out if this love is really real Don’t kid me baby, I got to know how you feel I want to wind up in the right place with you I gotta find out if it’s for me you do what you do You say you love me but you know it’s a lie I have to trust you it’s a matter of pride When you love somebody You must look into her eyes It’s a matter of pride Love somebody
