After a quick search at http://www.apartmentsearch.com it seems that the cheapest price for a studio apartment in Santa Cruz would be around $700. It looks like the average price for a 1 bedroom or less apartment is over $1000. If you rent through ApartmentSearch you get money back, which should help some. Ok You a looking any where from 1000-1200 a month is you just live by yourself. What I would do is go on roommates.com and search for someone to go in half in the rent with you. I know since you are in school you don’t want to pay that much.
