About Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz is a great place to live if you can afford it. Housing prices are very high. Even old wood homes built in the 30s go for $650,000 or more.
Rent is also high…a one bedroom is between $,1000-$1,200. Gas as of August, 2007 is about $2.90 per gal.
Some say the high rents are due to the university students who live here. This is true but it may also be true that being too close to San Jose has also run up the prices.
At least 60,000 commute over the dangerous Highway 17 every weekday. Traffic is always congested in Santa Cruz and road repair is poor. Many ride bikes around town but that can be dangerous.
So there is good with a little bad in our lovely community.
