I got accepted to both UCD and UCSC but I am struggling about which one I should go. So here is what I’ve heard about them:
UCD has a better reputation and a higher rank; but what I heard is that it’s located in the middle of the country so it’s not that fun. This is my dream school just because of its reputation. However, all my friends got rejected and only me got in.
For UCSC, I heard it’s a “party school” with a lot of hippies. I actually don’t really care about this because I believe if you really study hard then you’ll still be fine. All my friends got in and I got in, too. So we can rent a house together. It’s very liberal and a more laid-back life style. Tutition and dorms are cheaper than UC Davis. More fun things to do, better social life.
So yeah, I am very confusing now. I work pretty hard in high school and I got in and I heard during this economic crisis it’s even harder to get in so I feel happy about it. However, my other very good friends, who are also want to go to Davis, all got rejected. That means if I go to davis, then I will have to go by myself with no friends I know.
If i go to UCSC, I have all my friends there and UCSC is more fun more activities. People are very cool there. But the reputation is not that good. And my sister keep telling me that if I got in Davis then I should definitely go to Davis because Davis is more superior. And I’ve heard about the “Pass or Fail” myth which scares me.
(The reason why I keep talking about my friends is just because they are my really good friends for years, they are just like my brothers and they are very important to me)
Now I am kinda more toward to UCSC because they have a major called Health Science which UC Davis doesnt have. If i go to Davis I would pick biomedical engineering. I wish I can work somewhere in a medical field such as a doctor assistance, nurse, or pharmacist.
I know I just keep finding evidence that would tell me that UCSC is better than UCD becaue I really want to go with my friends.
But considering majors, social life, friends, reputations, and my job in the feature, which one I should go?
thanks for you advise in advance!

When are you looking to go? That will affect your price…
Either way, head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/california/san… and click the “Check Availability” button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price — that’ll put the cheapest places first.
You can then read about each hotel, view pics and book online.
It should do a pretty wide search, so it might find a few places on the outskirts that are below your limit.
Good luck!

So I have exactly one week until I make a decision. My problem is that I don’t know which is better for me. I was dead set on UCSC for the longest time, but UCSB looks really appealing now. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to make the wrong decision. I like UCSC because it’s laidback and relaxing and academics aren’t so demanding, but then UCSB is in socal with great weather and is more competitive which would do better me since I’m going to major in Biology. Which one would be better for medical school and biology? I like UCSC also because they have health sciences. I’m just stressed out. I want to make a decision now, but I obviously need more help. Thanks super much [;

If you lose it, someone owns your life. The national ID card system is something that is continuously brought up and shot down – studies and thinktanks repeatedly assert that such a measure would make our country less secure as a whole, and to combine all of these elements together would mean that a mugging would turn from a loss of a couple of dollars to a loss of identity for a period of time. It’s just not too practical.

At my high school, you would hear about people getting into Harvard and Berkeley or Stanford, and then the top tier students all get into the top tier UCs. UC Santa Cruz isn’t a top tier UC, and being accepted there and nowhere else makes the people who got accepted there and nowhere else feel dumb. (Its an Asian dominated high school.) There are some students saying UCSC isn’t worth it, but as the only UC I got into, I want to know if the stereotypes aren’t true. My GPA fell from 3.8 unweighted to 3.46 unweighted after a year AP classes :[
Soo, criticize me as an insecure Asian kid if you want, but I'm not the only Asian going to UCSC :]
